Kirchner, Charles Niemann, Virgil Norris, Tom Reeder, Diane Ziehl,
and Pastor Beese.

Members Excused: Jim Chapman, Barry Olson, Joe Poretta, and Don Wilken.

A motion was made by Shirley Kirchner and seconded by Charles Niemann
to accept the minutes of the January 15, 2008 meeting as written.
Motion was carried.

Treasurer's Report: A motion was made by Tom Reeder and seconded by
Shirley Kirchner to accept the report as written. Motion carried.

Building Fund Report: A motion was made by Diane Ziehl and seconded
by Shirley Kirchner to accept the report as written. Motion carried.

Pastor's Report: Pastor Beese reported Lenten Season has begun with
two services and two more in the following weeks. The first practice
for the Easter Pageant will be on February 19 with the showing of
last years video of the Pageant.  There were three baptisms: Sydney
Irwin and  Katlyn Jones (10 years old) and Christy Blongy (adult).
Christy and Katlyn will be taking their first communion class. Sydney and Katlyn will be
training to be an acolyte. There are four families in membership
classes. There was discussion on "Mentors" for these families. Virgil
Norris hopes to incorporate this in Stewardship.

At this point in the meeting, Pastor Nick Stutesman - Lake West
Christian Academy (Pre K-12 school) spoke to the council. Some fun
facts: The school was founded in 2001 and started with 32 students
and four teachers. September, 2006, they started classes in the new
building with 80 students and 12 teachers and staff. In May, 2007,
there were three seniors that graduated and in September, 2007, they
started classes with 87 students. The vision for the Academy is
Christ-Centered education with academic excellence. It is an inter-
denominational academy that strives to keep tuition low and
accommodate as many families as possible. Kent Women's Group (WELCA)
helped support this academy with a portion from a fund raiser. The
Christian Academy invited us to attend some upcoming events: (1) Lake
West Chamber's Home, Yard, and Dock show on April 5. (2) Open House
to tour their new facility and see classes in session on April 16.
(3) Spring Program and Silent Auction-April 24. (4) Piano Recital on
April 13. (5) Kindergarten Graduation - May 15. There were
discussions after Pastor Stutesman’s presentation. He is endorsing and
encouraging all churches to participate in their events and fund
raisers.

Committee Reports:

Christian Education-Jim Chapman was absent, however after Easter, it
was discussed to have a mid-week Bible Study (Coed). Also, it was
brought up that substitute teachers are needed for Sunday School.

Evangelism: the committee will meet again in March.

Finance: No report at this time.

Long Range Planning: Lois Gonseth reported Kate Clever is no longer
on this committee, but Karen Pragman will replace her. They held a
meeting in January to peruse the mission statement. Everyone can be a
"Fisher of Men".

Ministry Fund: Tom Reeder reported he promoted this fund at the
Annual Meeting. Possibly a person from the Kansas City office of the ELCA can come to give a "Temple Talk" on gift planning.

Mutual Ministry: Not formed at this time.

Property: Joe Poretta was absent. Pastor Beese reported a new mowing
schedule was formed and they will clean up the Easter Pageant area.
Also, Pastor replaced his garage door for $1,200.00 and broken window
for $200.00. This was a donation from Pastor and Nancy Beese.

Social Ministry: Pat Garrett reported Melba Bangert will chair this
committee and Georgia Cline will be secretary. Pat reported how she
helped a family in Gravois Mills with firewood. They do not have
electricity or running water. They were very appreciative for the
wood. Ken Mueller praised the social Ministry at the Annual Meeting.

Stewardship: Virgil Norris reported no meeting at this time, however,
he read many goals he would like to see happen at Kent. It takes the
total envelopment and work of the congregation for the church to
grow. There was a discussion about "2008" envelopes that have not
been picked up. Jennifer appointed Virgil to meet with the Pat Dau to
eliminate some names that don’t use the envelopes for their giving.

Worship & Music: Charles Niemann reported two new members on the
committee. They are Gloria Peterson and Joyce Wanamaker. Joyce will
be the secretary and Toni Wagner is Chairperson. The committee has
been discussing Easter Services and the Easter Pageant. It was
suggested to have a new telephone message recording for the church's
Easter Services - date and time.

Youth Ministry: Diane Ziehl reported Darlene Mueller chaired the
meeting. They served over 120 people in 45 minutes at Taters and
Talent. Their goal is to have the youth reach out to Community
Projects and have our youth inter-twine with other youth from other
churches.

Old Business: Web Page - please email Don Brohm with an up dated list of
committees assignments.
The "Building Use Policy" was discussed from final draft. A motion
was made by Shirley Kirchner and seconded by Pat Garrett to accept
the final draft as written. Motion carried. Pastor Beese will give
out the form to people getting married and using the church for
different purposes.

New Business:

1. Delegates for the Synod Convention in St. Louis on June 5-8 was
discussed.

2. Guess Who's Coming to Dinner on March 8 was discussed. Anyone can
sign up for it.

3. A motion was made by Charles Niemann and second by Diane Ziehl to
renew the terms for Treasurer: Gail Kruse for the General Fund and
Tom Reeder for the Building Fund, Financial Secretaries, Barbara
Patterson and Jean Killian. For Recording Secretary, Darlene Mueller.

4. Purchasing new copier for the church office was discussed. A
rebuilt copier is $3,000.00. After much discussion, it was decided to

purchase it.

Homeless Shelter, Share the Harvest Food Pantry in Greenview and
Lutheran Family and Church Service.
